Grizzly bears down 40% in some parts of BC where hunting permitted

A new study out concludes that grizzly numbers have dropped dramatically in SE British Columbia. I have been talking to the scientists on this one and it is even more significant than it first appears. What it effectively means is that the government-managed hunt in parts of south-eastern British Columbia has been so badly run that 40% of the grizzly bear population has been killed in the last few years. One scientist, who I won’t quote by name, told me: “This certainly changes the way we look at government grizzly bear management.”
